Info & Policies

Allan Breed School of Woodworking class information and policies

All classes are taught by Allan Breed at the Allan Breed School of Woodworking facility located in an 1845 brick mill on the Salmon Falls River in the small village of Rollinsford, NH. Windows on three sides assure great natural light- the best to work by. The wooden floors are easy on the legs. Class size will be limited to ten students to insure that everyone gets lots of one-on-one instruction and demos so as to fully understand the processes being taught in each class.

Tuition & Payments

Materials and a free lunch at the local café are included in the tuition fee.

Five Day Courses:

A $300 deposit is due when you register for a Five Day Course. Balance of class tuition is due on the first day of class (cash or check only).

One Day Workshops:

The class fee for One Day Workshops must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Should Allan Breed School of Woodworking cancel a class, you will receive a full refund.

Five Day Courses:

Deposits are non-refundable, but may be applied towards another class for up to one year after the date on which the deposit was made. Please contact us if you would like to apply your deposit towards a different class.

One Day Workshops:

No refunds, unless class is cancelled by the school.

Tools

Tool lists are posted with each class description. Carving tools are listed from the Swiss Made- Pfeil brand as listed in the Woodcraft Supply catalogue. Other tools specify the source. Lists are the minimal number of tools needed to complete the class work. Given the fact that carving tools, especially, can add up fast, there are some tools on hand to fill in gaps on your list. Please contact us if you are short on tools to make sure we can accommodate your needs. Any tools may be shipped ahead of time to Allan Breed, 13 Liberty St., S. Berwick, ME 03908.

Local Attractions

If you are bringing along non-woodworkers, there is a lot to do in the area. We are 13 miles north of Portsmouth, NH, a great old historic town on the Piscataqua River with dozens of good restaurants and historic sites. We are about the same distance from the ocean and an hour and a half from Boston down the coast. Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountains are 1-2 hrs. north. You can even take the train to Salem or Boston a short distance from Rollinsford, in Dover, NH. C&J Bus Lines will take you from Logan Airport to Portsmouth or Dover.

Would you like a custom class at your location?

I can travel to you to teach weekend or week-long classes. Past classes have included a Rococo mirror, piecrust table, lowboy and ball and claw carving, among others. Some classes can be multiple sessions separated by some working time in between for more complex pieces.
