Rococo Mirror

This copy of a Philadelphia mirror is after an original attributed to Reynolds or a contemporary working in the colonies. This c-scroll design adorned with flower garlands and a swan at the base is carved from white pine and painted white, as was the original. Almost five feet tall, this relatively symmetrical design, by Rococo standards, is topped with a floral cartouche. The alternating concave and convex treatment of the elements creates a nice liveliness to the design.
