One of the things that drew me to this site is-- yea you guessed carving. He needs no introduction here so its fair to say - most of the interest is connected to the carving elements that Al Breed…Continue

Good Day,
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:( mrsstellakwale588@gmail.com ) for the full details.
Have a nice day
Thanks God bless.
Mrs Stella.
Thanks for the tip on shellac vendor. I just bought 8 lbs of orange. It is getting expensive and harder to get. I heard China is sucking it all up combined with a 3 year drought in India.
The picture of the wood storage was taken a few years ago. I now have the building nearly full. I think I have about 40,000 ft. of cherry , walnut, oak, etc. etc. I'm becoming more selective in what I saw and am looking more for exceptional trees and old growth if I can find it. I've also been cutting thicker material like 3X3 and etc. I think I'm going to start cutting some extra wide / thick boards from clear walnut also (24" X 1 3/4") for special applications. I think the thicker dimension will help with any warpage due to the extra width. It is really nice to be able to just go out and grab the wood when making a project. I'm working on potentially getting a container of mahogany from the Philippines. Al Breed got some from the general area which was very good quality. I may have a source for it to buy direct. I'm waiting for a sample and will send to Al for him to inspect. If it looks good, I may go ahead with the shipment.
I'm really interested in your specific recipe for "resins application" if you don't mind sharing it. Again, your finish is outstanding.
Thanks much,
Dennis
Hi there Dan,
What brings you my way? Nice to hear from you though!
I really like your desk! looks like a lot of work. I haven't done one one of these yet. I have done windsor chairs, and need to do several more - can't seem to get to them though. I also like your flintlock. .45 cal? I have a .36 flintlock (purchased) - great squirel gun. I don't get a lot, but sure have fun trying.
Currently I'm working on a Virginia eastern shore corner cabinet. I really like the archetectural molding on this piece. I'll post a couple of pics when I get it done. Out of curiosity, what did you do to finish your desk? VERY nice job. I took a couple of finishing classes, but never really found the "perfect" finish for me. I'm always asking around to see how people get a really great finish (especially when I see one).

Thanks Dan for commenting on the lowboy. It was a first attempt at lots of things, and I have a long list of things I would like to do better, but I still enjoy looking at it in my living room. It strikes a nice pose.
Working on anything fun lately?
